MINIBC offers merchants many emails to communicate events related to a subscribers. Below is a guide to which emails MINIBC recommends and the context that each email is meant to include and/or address.
Recommended:
Email Name | Expected Context |
Successful Signup | Sent upon creation of a subscription. Used to welcome the user to the ‘club’. |
Billing Error | Sent when funding fails for a recurring subscription. Let’s the customer know to update their details |
Upcoming Credit Card Expiry | Sent when the system detects a card will expire before the next renewal. |
Cancellation | Sent as a confirmation when a custom cancels their subscription. |
Subscription Invoice | Sent upon a successful subscription charge since BigCommerce will not send any notice after the initial invoice email. |
Editing Notifications:
Email Name | Expected Context |
Subscription Updated | A general email to let customers know their subscription was edited in some way (qty, product or date) |
Subscription Renewal Skipped | Sent when a customer skips a renewal, as a confirmation of the skip. |
Shipping Details Updated | A specific notice that the customers shipping address was changed. |

Scheduled Renewal | Used to remind a customer of an upcoming charge. |
Subscription Expiry | Used to remind a customer of an upcoming expiry of their subscription. |
Credit Card Updated | Send upon the successful update of a customer's credit card within MININBC. |
Automatic Cancellation | Sent when a subscription is canceled by MINIBC for too many failed payments. The amount of failures is set by the merchant within the MINIBC dashboard. |
Automatic Cancellation (Membership) | Similar to the above; but specifically for membership based subscriptions where the context may be different for this type of subscription. |
