MiniBC supports Apple Pay for BigCommerce checkouts, allowing your customers to complete their purchases quickly and securely using Apple Pay on supported devices.
There are two ways to enable Apple Pay:
Hosted Payment Page (Recommended)
On-Page Apple Pay (Advanced Setup)
This guide explains how each option works and what’s required to set it up.
Before You Begin
To use Apple Pay with MiniBC:
Apple Pay must be supported by your payment provider.
Apple Pay must be enabled in your payment provider’s account.
You must have the MiniBC app installed and configured.
If you are unsure whether your provider supports Apple Pay, please contact your payment provider directly.
Option 1: Hosted Payment Page (Recommended)
Overview
The Hosted Payment Page option is the easiest and most common way to enable Apple Pay.
With this setup, customers are redirected to a secure MiniBC-hosted page to complete their Apple Pay payment.
How It Works
The customer selects Apple Pay during checkout.
The customer clicks Place Order.
They are redirected to a secure payment page hosted by MiniBC.
The Apple Pay button appears on that page.
After completing payment, the customer is automatically returned to your store’s order confirmation page.
From the customer’s perspective, the experience is smooth and secure.
Why This Option Is Recommended
✅ No advanced technical setup required
✅ No server configuration needed
✅ MiniBC handles domain validation
✅ Quick and simple activation
Most merchants should choose this option.
Setup Steps
To enable Apple Pay using the Hosted Payment Page:
Step 1: Add the Validation URL to Your Payment Provider
MiniBC will provide you with a provider-specific validation URL.
Log in to your payment provider account.
Locate the Apple Pay configuration or domain verification section.
Add the validation URL provided by MiniBC.
Save your changes.
If you are unsure where to add this URL, contact your payment provider’s support team.
Step 2: Enable Apple Pay in MiniBC
Log in to your MiniBC App Dashboard.
Navigate to your payment settings.
Enable Apple Pay.
Save your configuration.
Apple Pay should now be available at checkout.
Option 2: On-Page Apple Pay (Advanced Setup)
Overview
With On-Page Apple Pay, the Apple Pay button appears directly on your checkout page.
When customers click the Apple Pay button, the Apple Pay payment window opens immediately without redirecting to another page.
This creates a fully embedded checkout experience.
Important: Technical Requirements
Apple requires merchants to verify ownership of their domain before Apple Pay can be activated.
This process is called domain validation.
What Is Domain Validation?
Your payment provider will:
Provide a domain verification file.
Require that file to be uploaded to a specific URL on your website.
Verify the file to confirm domain ownership.
BigCommerce Limitation
BigCommerce reserves the specific URL location required for Apple’s domain verification.
This means:
You cannot upload the required file directly to your storefront.
A workaround is necessary.
Common Workaround
Merchants typically resolve this by:
Setting up a proxy server, or
Using a routing solution that allows the required verification URL to point to the validation file
Because this involves server configuration, this setup is considered high complexity and usually requires:
A developer
A technical partner
Advanced server access
When Should You Use On-Page Apple Pay?
Choose this option if:
You want the Apple Pay button displayed directly on your checkout page.
You have access to technical resources.
You are comfortable managing domain validation and server configuration.
If you are unsure, we strongly recommend using the Hosted Payment Page option instead.
